The larger Christian world refers to the week leading to Jesus’ crucifixion as “Holy Week.” It is a time filled with anticipation for the Jews who had traveled to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. It is also a time filled with anticipation for Jesus, because he knew the time of his death was near.
Between now and Easter Sunday, our Sunday morning sermons will focus on the events and teachings we find in the Gospels that relate to this final week before Jesus’ crucifixion. We should always pay careful attention to what someone has to say when they know they are about to die, and that’s especially the case when the one about to die is the Son of God.
